On August 3rd, our 2nd District Congresswoman, Jackie Walorski, was killed in a car crash south of Elkhart.
Traveling with Jackie were two young aides, Zach Potts, 27, and Emma Thomson, 28, who also perished. Also lost was the woman driving the other vehicle, Nappanee resident Edith Schmucker, 56. It was a tragic event that shocked Northern Indiana, with widespread ramifications.
Jackie Walorski was a champion for the RV Industry in her district. She was a founding member of the RV caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives, where she fought for favorable policies on trade, tax, regulation, campground modernization, and other important issues. She had a great understanding of the importance of the RV industry to this district and was an untiring advocate.
We often saw her locally, and she was regularly involved with the RV Power Breakfast and the RV Hall of Fame in Elkhart.
We at Troyer Products offer condolences to Jackie’s family, and we remember the others lost in the accident as well. We agree with RV Industry Association Chair Jeff Rutherford, that, “There is no one who more consistently advocated on behalf of the RV industry in Congress, and we as an industry are better off for it.
