A SNAP is composed of four different parts. A Snap Cap is the component part most likely to be used as the decorative feature on a garment and is covered in detail in the previous section. The Snap Socket attaches with the cap through the garment fabric. This is often referred to as the FEMALE part of the 4 part set. The Snap Stud, often referred to as the MALE part of the 4 part set is the component part that fits into the socket to give the SNAP. And finally the Snap Post, often referred to as a stud eyelet attaches through the garment fabric and is assembled with the stud.
